Parish Staff - Judy Biros
Judy began her "formal ministry" at Holy Family Parish in the fall of 1989 as Director of Liturgy. Prior to that she was an active volunteer at Holy Family Parish and School. Some of her activities involved teaching 7th and 8th grade PSR; teaching and facilitating in the Confirmation program as well as the Confirmation retreats; collaborating in starting and directing the first Holy Family Vacation Bible School; volunteering as room mother and lunch monitor; and starting the first hot lunch program: a monthly "hot dog day."
Judy holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education with a minor in music from the University of Akron, after which she taught first grade in the Akron Public School System. She also served as a substitute teacher at Holy Family and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Her post-graduate work was done at the University of Akron and through course work in the Diocese of Cleveland.
Judy is currently our Director of Worship and Music. A few areas of her ministry as Worship Director involve preparing all of the liturgies at Holy Family Parish and School, overseeing the training and formation of all liturgical ministers: Ministers of Hospitality, Eucharistic Ministers, and Lectors and Commentators, and planning the sessions for The Children's Liturgy of the Word, which she introduced to Holy Family early in her ministry. As Director of Music, she directs the Contemporary, Celebration, and Funeral Choirs, plans the music for all Holy Family Parish and School Liturgies, schedules and prepares our parish cantors and accompanists, and works with student cantors at School liturgies.
Judy's husband, George, is Holy Family's principle accompanist, and accompanies all the adult choirs, as well as provides the music for the majority of Holy Family Parish and School liturgies. Their blended family consists of 7 children and 13 grandchildren several of whom are also involved in liturgical ministries in their own parishes.
