PSR - Parish School of Religion
Designed for children in public school grades 1-8, Holy Family's Parish School of Religion (PSR) is the BASIC religious education program offered to parish families. Registration is required and children attend grade level classes from 10:45-12:00 on twenty-four Sunday mornings throughout the school year (see PSR calendar in folder). Catechists use a religion textbook as a basis for each week's lesson. In addition, children experience various prayer opportunities and explore the Bible, particularly the upcoming Sunday's Gospel reading. To enrich the children's religious education, art and music classes are also offered throughout the school year. This year we are holding a Family Retreat on Sunday, February 2nd from 9:30-12:30. All families (parents and children) should plan to attend.
Called to Protect, a program which helps children protect themselves against sexual abuse, is part of the religious education curriculum for the Diocese of Cleveland. This program has been in place for three years as part of our PSR program. All children in PSR will participate in this program for three consecutive classes this fall. Catechists have been trained to teach this material and are excited to continue to empower children with the knowledge to help keep themselves safe. A letter will be sent to parents inviting them to attend a session to become familiar with the Called to Protect program and learn ways to protect their children.
Families are encouraged to participate in TEAM events throughout the year. TEAM is an intergenerational program that is especially geared to families who want MORE than the basics for their children and themselves. This year's theme is "St. Paul, Evangelist" and we will begin the year with a potluck dinner on September 14th (see flyer in folder). Participants also attend events in October, November, January and March that begin with 9:30 mass in the church, followed by brunch and activities in the FSPC from 10:40-12:30. In addition, there will be a TEAM Family Fun outing following PSR on February 16th, 12:00-2:00. To join in the fun, complete the TEAM portion of the Religious Education Registration Form below. There is no PSR on mornings when TEAM takes place - see the PSR calendar for dates.
